Diagnostic Records

Diagnostic records are taken in order for the doctor to evaluate a patient's current skeletal and dental relationships. The Doctor will use the information gathered at the records appointment and the initial exam to formulate one or more appropriate treatment options for you or your child.

What you can expect at the appointment.

The records appointment can last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Our trained orthodontic assistants will guide you through this appointment which will include:
  • Radiographs (x-rays)-usually a panoramic radiograph and a lateral cephalogram
  • Photographs of your face, smile, and teeth
  • Impressions (molds) of your teeth
  • Separaters (spacers) may be placed at this appointment in preparation for the next appointment
  • Video about oral hygiene and care for your braces
Patients or parents will also have time to read our informed consent document regarding orthodontic treatment.
